Volkswagen One Liter CarIt has officially become a mad and desperate race, I tell you. The race for a car that would kick OPEC countries in their oil-producing nuts. And this here’s one of them. Volkswagen is relaunching the one-liter car. To jog some of you people’s memory, this car is said to be capable of 1 liter per 100 km (around 282 mpg). To top it all of, Volkswagen is said to have approved this baby for production.

We have to thank technology for that. One of the core principles that will drive this car is lightweightedness - that would mean a stripped down car using carbon-fiber as much as it can. With carbon-fiber price dropping, it will now be a viable venture to have it produced in a couple of years’ time.

Power will come from a 2-cylinder engine that will be equipped with a hybrid kit that would help boost emission ratings and increase mileage. How lightweight is this car? Well, VW is posting it to just weight 300 Kg and would boast of aerodynamic properties. Instead of mirrors, this thing will boast cameras instead. While this is also basically a pod-like vehicle, it will be equipped with ABS, driver’s airbag, sequential transmission and LED lights.
