Volkswagen TiguanOne of the things that you have to appreciate when buying a car is the warranty and the maintenance program. With a lot of competition going on these days, automakers need to offer the best value per buck. It’s actually one of Hyundai’s strong points today - a 5-year warranty. Most automakers are limited to a 3-year bumper-to-bumper warranty. Volkswagen, in a move to secure owner loyalty, launched its 2009 free maintenance program.

Yup, that’s free maintenance for all the scheduled maintenance checks slated in the booklet for all 2009 models. That’d cover the 10K, 20K, and 30K checks for these models. The new synthetic oil allows for longer intervals between oil changes. The program will start with the rollout of the new Tiguan. The Routan (the VW minivan) program would even cover 6K, 12K, 18K, 24K, 30K and 36K checks.

It’s a tall order what Volkswagen is doing here but the beauty is that other car manufacturers might be following suit. A worry-free three years of driving is would be definitely worth every buck you put down for a car.
