Small cars and hothatches are back and with fuel prices changing the US car market. SUVs are nearly dead and small cars are the new giant sellers. Enterprising automakers such as Toyota (whose SUV line has definitely taken a hit), has decided to expand its US offering of small and fuel-economic cars. However, since practicality-despite-size is also an issue, Toyota will be bringing the f5-door Yaris to US markets.

The US only saw the 3-door hatch and the 4-door sedan models ever since Yaris’ debut. While the 5-door Yaris isn’t different in terms of overall size,the 5-door version offers more access just in case you need to maximize space. Added bonuses for the 2009 model are side and rear passenger side airbags.

Aside from the fact that it has five doors, this Yaris wouldn’t offer anything new in terms of performance and powertrain lineup, still sporting the same 1.3L - 1.8L choices depending on trim level variant.
