All of these numbers designated to cars can be a real puzzle. Take the Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren 722 released back in 2006 for example. The name doesn’t mean that this is a 722 hp beast, it’s simply a tribute to the exact start time of Stirling Moss’ 1955 Mille Miglia run.
Branding and badging boo-boos aside, you have to thank tuners for finally making things right. Tuning house RENNTECH thought that they should make a practical sense to the 722 name and they did - by boosting its power to 772 horses.
By slapping on their PKG1 package which included upgraded intercoolers, a larger crankshaft pulley, and a custom ECU software, RENNTECH succeeded in upping the power from a “mere” 650 hp to 722. Package 2 (PKG2) actually gives 18 horses more at 740. To wrap everything up, RENNTECH also added 20-inch wheels and a choice of 3 finishes.
Spiffy!
