Before David Hasselhoff sported his red trunks and patrolled the beaches, he was the co-star of that black Pontiac Trans Am in the 1980s TV series Knight Rider. Now news has it that NBC will be remaking the show with the pilot being a two-hour TV movie to be shown later this year.
For those of you young enough not to know what Knight Rider is, it’s about this undercover agent, Michael Knight (played by Hasselhoff) and his talking Trans Am, Knight Industries Two Thousand or simply K.I.T.T. It had a large cult following with a lot of fans making mods as tributes to K.I.T.T.
I mean, I’m not too excited about this news at all. Seldom do shows make a comeback and comebacks such as these work only on novelty and nostalgia. But with the worldwide following, this can be a hit. And one upside, David Hasselhoff’s too old for the role so a younger guy would be behind the new (?) K.I.T.T.’s wheel.
