Koenigsegg has gone a long way from being badly in debt (at a pathetic amount of less than one of their cars) to taking over Saab. Despite the busy months, Koenigsegg has been able to come up with something to feature in the upcoming Frankfurt show.
Meet the Koenigsegg CCXR Trevita. Not much change has been made from the “standard” CCXR. Power still comes from a twin-supercharged V8 that generates 806 bhp and 782 lb-ft of torque. This allows the car go from stand still to 62 mph in just 3.1 seconds.
For the other tweaks, the Trevita gets a double carbon wing, flappy-paddle shifters, and inconell exhaust system, carbon ceramic brakes with ABS, and a swanky new instrument cluster.
“Trevita” which means “three white” ditches the black carbon fiber body panels in favor of Koenigsegg’s own “Diamond Weave.” Koenigsegg claims that the car “sparkles like millions of silvery white diamonds infused inside the visible carbon fiber weave bodywork.” Koenigsegg, apparently, was able to coat the fibers with a diamond finish.

Swedish supercar manufacturer Koenigsegg is reportedly one of the last few bidders for Saab, another Swedish firm currently under administration, the counterpart of US Chapter 11 bankruptcy.
A Swedish newspaper report said, “According to sources close to GM the toughest battle is expected between US billionaire Ira Rennert and Swedish carmaker Koenigsegg.” Rennert and his Renco Group, a holding company based in New York City that invests in a variety of industries, is one of the other shortlisted bidders.
News of the Koenigsegg bid comes shortly after Saab confirmed narrowing down the list of bidders to three prime prospects.A deal to get Saab off GM’s struggling hands should be made within a few weeks. GM made it pretty clear that Saab would be let go by the end of 2009, and the sale will definitely come much earlier than that target.
It would be amazing to see what lies ahead for Saab if the Koenigsegg proves to be true and pushes through. What’s better for Saab is that this really will make an entirely Swedish entity out of the company, since Koenigsegg hails from the same land. Of course, this still depends largely on Koenigsegg’s own financial status.

Talking about overkill. I first thought that the Aston Martin Rapide with all its 480 horses and four doors(!) was something cool but in retrospect, I think I have to make a double-take on that one. I think that the sportiest four-door cars should be rally cars. Anything zippier should only have two. What’s the point in cruising 200 miles with someone seated at the back anyway?
Now it appears that Koenigsegg has had the same idea and is have been developing their own high-performance four-door sports sedan that they intend to debut at the 2010 Geneva Motor Show. And get this – 700 horses coming from a V8!
And in the same tradition with the CCX (pictured), this car will breach the 200 mph top speed barrier (at 217 mph). I wonder if Koenigsegg has finally overcome their money woes. Being a relatively small company, they only get to produce 35 units of the CCX. To be priced cheaper than the CCX, the company is set to produce 70-80 units of the four-door.

What’s great about having the motor show going is that we all get to be surprised at the other non-hyped debuts and showcases. And by God, there are some really nice features in the ongoing Geneva Motor Show. It’ll be a challenge for us here to really be on top of these things.
Anyway, here’s one interesting feature – the Koenigsegg CCXR covered in nothing but carbon fiber. Yup, in seeming naked glory with nothing but carbon fiber as birthday suit. Now, you might say that Bugatti did this first with the Veyron Pur Sang but hey, this is another monster supercar we’re talking about here. And look, the wheels are even carbon fiber!
Compound that with the 4.7L twin-supercharged V8 dishing out 1,018 hp that you find under the hood, and this is one wicked car. And get this, Nature and the green brigade might also love you for driving one since this can run on E85 ethanol as well.
I haven’t really read or heard any news so far regarding Koenigsegg’s financial standing since they were reported to be in debt (surprisingly in an amount that is even less than one of their supercars). But it’s always great to see them doing some great designs and engineering with this one.

While I admire Koenigsegg’s push for engineering perfection, I wonder what they’re doing with their financial issues. Reports earlier indicated that the Swedish car maker is in financial trouble with a debt that they can’t seem to pay off even if it’s just under the price of one of their cars.
Yet what we have here is a display of engineering hubris. Gunning for both power and eco-friendliness, Koenigsegg is working on this special edition of the CCXR that can both run on biofuel and inch ahead of the Veyron (and perhaps the Venom GT) in the horsepower category.
This project will (surprisingly) feature a cast-aluminum 4.7 L V8 with sequential multipoint fuel injection and twin superchargers. This, with E85 ethanol running in its bowels is supposed to get a staggering 1,018 hp at 7,200 rpm. These, translated to performance is supposed to propel the car from naught to sixty in under 3 seconds with top speeds of more than 250 mph. Not bad at all for an eco-friendly vehicle.
You get at least 10.7 mpg and just for a low-low price of 1.5 million euros. Hehe.

Sweden supercar automaker Koenigsegg is not able to deal with its financial liabilities, Realtid reports. Koenigsegg owes its creditors bigtime money to the amount of €240,000. They’re currently looking for new investors to help raise funding and keep the company afloat.
Remember that in 2003, just a year after delivering its first car, its production facilities were burned to the ground. €240,000 is less than a Porsche Carrera GT or a Ferrari Enzo and these are the guys who brought us the Koenisegg CCX (pictured). Let’s just hopes these guys can turn things around.
