No disrespect to Enzo’s son, but the ‘Dino’ name didn’t really do Ferrari any good and using it as a badge might just be another marketing disaster. You can’t just relegate a brand to not being a “proper” Ferrari and bring resurrect it and expect the same reception as the flagship designations.
This entry-level Ferrari, however, does deserve a second look. Codenamed F149 is a 2+2 vehicle that would pack the same 4.3L engine that can be found in the F430 but would have a price tag less than $190,000. The car would also pack some new technologies including Ferrari’s new direct injection technology, a new gearbox, and throttle body.
The car will be sharing its chassis with the Maserati GranTurismo. Ferrari plans to debut this one in this year’s Paris Motor Show and will be producing units ranging from 6,000 to 10,000 per year.

Watch out, world. The Ferrari Dino is back. I really am not a fan of the old Dino. I share the position of most critics that it isn’t a Ferrari at all. But despite the repeated denials, word has it that the Dino will indeed be reincarnated in time for the 2008 Geneva Motor Show.
Heavily concealed Dino prototypes (top) have been spotted and by the looks of it, the prototype’s design does echo the front design of the old one (the 246 GT). I’m just glad that it lost the slim elongated rear of the old one. Not much has been said about this new Dino so until some more information is leaked or released, we might just have to wait until next year to get the complete 411 on this new Ferrari.
Speaking of new Ferraris, buzz for the new F430 replacement (bottom) has been strong. A lot of car enthusiasts have wondered if it will be able to top its predecessor. Remember that even Jeremy Clarkson has dubbed the F430 as “the best car” he has ever driven. While not much track information has been revealed about its latest incarnation, the F430 Scuderia, the specs alone is enough to make any Ferrari fan anticipate this replacement. It is known to be even lighter than the F430 but packs a tamer 500hp V8 engine (10 less than the Scud).
Reports in the past that the Enzo replacement will be a monster. With the Dino and the replacements in Ferrari’s pipeline. It will indeed be an exciting year ahead of all Ferrari fans.
