Chevrolet Cobalt SS 2008First introduced in 2004 with its 2005 model, the Chevrolet Cobalt was designed to be GM’s replacement for the Cavalier model. GM has been considerate enough to offer the SS version performance package to give consumers a tweaked out compact. And more good news, GM just unveiled the 2008 Cobalt SS Turbo.

Yup, that’s a turbocharger and intercooler strapped to the 2.0L Ecotec giving the 2.0 engine a remarkable 260 hp. It’s mated to GM Powertrain Sweden 5-speed transmission. And to give the driver a sporty-command of the powerhouse, the Cobalt SS Turbo features a short-trow shifter.

GM definitely has got the sense of improving the handling with the FE5 Sport suspension that gives the Cobalt some added grip. Add some Brembo fixed-caliper front discs and vented rear disc brakes and a rear spoiler (with optional high wing) and you’ve got one sporty compact.

It’s set to be on sale 2nd quarter of 2008.
