Cars. I liked that movie. Sure, it’s as American as NASCAR is but it does, all in all, make up for a good movie that is, if you can just push past its being a kid-oriented animated feature. Well, theme and impression aside, I also like the goofy renderings of the cars there and UK will get to see these Cars in flesh (erm, metal and fiberglass?) in the BIMS.
Disney/Pixar World of Cars will be bringing real-world editions of the cars featured in the film. The hero Lightning McQueen is built upon a 1978 Trans-Am with a lot of fiberglass to get the goofy look. Spiffy Sally Carrera (the Porsche) is really a 2002 911. Even the rusty tow truck Mater will be there (built on a Chevy pickup chassis) and Mack the Truck is a 1985 Mack super-liner.
Now this adds more attraction for kids to appreciate the world of motoring. Or perhaps a good excuse to make motor shows a family activity (to the joy of gearhead dads). Peugeot will also feature a driving school for kids and Honda will also feature their skydiving routines as part of their larger campaign.
